Florida Tribal Dance Safety Precaution Notes:
Our in studio classes will take place in the Large 1st floor (Wednesday classes) and 2nd floor (Tuesday classes) studios at Russian Ballet.
There will be hand sanitizer at the door upon entering the studio, as well as disposable masks should you need one.
There is ample space for all to maintain distance, however we are implementing the following guidelines:
1. With our new mandates, wearing a face covering when arriving, setting up, and breaking down/exiting class is required. There will be enough social distancing to satisfy the exception written in the mandate, if you choose not to wear one during class. Lacey will be wearing a face covering but also using a mic to project her voice during class.
2. Please be sure to bring your own water bottle
3. All students please bring your own yoga mat or a large beach towel. We will get creative with these to help with keeping distance during class.
4. Please, for the time being, refrain from hugs, or personal space contact. Excited waves, air high fives, and smiles are all welcome!

Tribal style belly dance carries a rich sense of community that goes far beyond the movements themselves. Rooted in a tradition that has continued to evolve across the globe, it draws on earthy rhythms, colorful costuming, and a spirit of shared celebration. Classes often feel like gathering with family, where dancers of every age, size, and background are welcomed for the simple joy of movement. The focus on group improvisation builds trust and connection, turning the dance floor into a space where individuality and togetherness can flourish at the same time.

Tribal fusion takes that foundation and opens the door to broader creative exploration. By blending influences from flamenco, North African, Middle Eastern, and Indian dance traditions, it offers a genre that is both rooted and evolving. Students are encouraged to bring their own personality to class, layering personal style with structured technique. The result is a form of expression that feels spirited and contemporary while still honoring the history that shaped it. For dancers looking to expand their vocabulary, fusion provides a welcoming path that keeps the heart of tribal style intact.

For many students, belly dance becomes a workout that does not feel like work at all. The combinations engage the core, build strength, and invite flexibility, all set to music that inspires movement. Because tribal styles emphasize posture, controlled isolations, and grounded footwork, classes offer a full-body experience that also nurtures focus and breath. Whether the goal is fitness, a new hobby, or simply a reason to step away from daily routines, the practice offers an enjoyable way to stay active while learning something deeply expressive.

Joining a class is also a meaningful way to build friendships and find a sense of belonging. Studios often become gathering places where dancers encourage one another, share discoveries, and celebrate progress together. The camaraderie that develops on the dance floor frequently carries into other parts of life, creating bonds rooted in shared passion. Newcomers frequently remark on how quickly the group atmosphere feels welcoming, making it easy to settle in regardless of prior experience. In this way, tribal dance offers not only a creative outlet but also a lasting community.

Attending live performances and local events is another rewarding way to experience tribal dance beyond the classroom. Watching seasoned dancers bring choreography to life offers inspiration and a deeper appreciation for the art form. Many communities host showcases, workshops, and seasonal gatherings where students can connect with instructors, meet fellow enthusiasts, and see different interpretations of the style. Staying engaged with these opportunities helps dancers grow, stay motivated, and remain connected to the evolving world of tribal belly dance.
